Talent & Teams

Senior, vetted engineers and architects — embedded with your team, on-site or remote, for weeks or for years. Discreet and accountable, never bodyshop churn.

Sometimes the right answer is not a project but people: a senior engineer who integrates with your team, a squad that can deliver a defined outcome, or a fractional leader who brings the judgement of a full-time CTO without the full-time cost.

We place people we would happily put on our own engagements — vetted for craft and temperament, accountable to you, and supported by the wider firm behind them. No revolving door, no juniors billed as seniors.

Every engineer placed has been on a delivery with us before the placement — not a coding test, an actual project. We know how they handle a sceptical stakeholder, an underspecified ticket, and the moment when the right answer is to say no. The CV is the easy part of the assessment.

When an engineer joins your team, the engagement does not stop existing for us. They have a partner inside the firm, peer review and craft conversations they would otherwise miss, and a path back to in-house engagements when the placement ends. We carry the retention work so that you get the engineer rather than the churn.

What we deliver

Embedded engineers

Individual senior engineers and architects who join your team and are accountable for real outcomes.

Project squads

Small, senior teams assembled to deliver a defined outcome and then hand it over cleanly.

Fractional CTO / CIO

Experienced technology leadership at the fraction you need, bringing structure without empire-building.

Outcomes

  • Senior people, vetted for craft and temperament
  • Accountability to you, backed by the firm
  • Flexible commitment without bodyshop churn

How we engage

We begin with a brief: the work, the team they will join, the seniority and stack required, and the cultural shape that will integrate well rather than abrasively. Most placements happen within two to four weeks of brief.

Engineers can be embedded full-time, fractional, or rotated through a squad as the work demands. Each placement comes with a partner in the firm, a quarterly review with you, and the right to surface concerns about the engagement before they become problems.

Fractional CTO and CIO engagements work the same way: an experienced operator placed at the cadence you need — typically one to three days a week — with the firm's wider bench available when the brief expands.

Frequently asked

Are these contractors or your employees?

Almost always our employees. Contracting introduces incentive misalignment we would rather avoid, and the people we want to place tend to prefer being part of a firm with peers and a backbone.

What is the minimum engagement?

Eight weeks is the practical minimum for an embedded placement; below that the integration cost outweighs the value. Project squads can be tighter — a four-week intervention is fine if the outcome is well-defined.

What happens if it is not working?

We pull the engineer and apologise. Replacement, partial refund, or a graceful end — your call. We would rather lose the placement than the relationship, and the firm is structured to make that easy to do.
